Why it is worth doing
A dirty engine bay is mostly cosmetic until it is not. Oil film holds dust and grit against hoses and looms, and a bay nobody has looked at in five years hides the small leak that would have been obvious. It is also the first thing a buyer opens, and the difference between a clean bay and a filthy one is worth more at sale than it costs here.
How the job runs
- Sensitive components covered first — alternator, intake, exposed connectors, anything the manufacturer would not want soaked.
- Degreaser worked in by hand and with detail brushes, not sprayed and left.
- A gentle low-pressure rinse. No pressure washer: forcing water past a seal is how a clean bay becomes an electrical fault.
- Dried, then a non-greasy dressing on plastics and hoses so it looks right without attracting dust straight back.
What it will not do
This is cleaning, not mechanical work. We do not open sealed components, disturb wiring, or touch anything under pressure. If we find a leak or a perished hose we will tell you and photograph it — we will not fix it, and we will not clean the evidence away without saying so.
Questions
Is it safe on a modern car?
Yes, when it is done at low pressure with the sensitive parts covered, which is how we do it. The risk in engine bay cleaning comes almost entirely from pressure washers forcing water past seals, and we do not use one here.
What about a hybrid or an EV?
Tell us when you book. EVs and hybrids have high-voltage components with their own rules, and on some models the sensible answer is a dry clean of the visible plastics only. We would rather scope it properly than find out on the day.
Will it make an oil leak worse?
No, but it will make it visible. Cleaning removes the accumulated film that was hiding where the oil is actually coming from, which is usually the point. We photograph anything we find.
How long does it add?
About half an hour on top of whatever package you booked. It happens while the crew is there anyway, which is the whole reason it costs what it does rather than what a standalone visit would.
